Summer Educator’s Tours at the Lightner Musuem are perfect for all ages and will be offered in lieu of the monthly Curator’s Tours on June 6, July 4, and August 1 at 10:00am. The tour will vary each month. Guests will be invited to participate in the antique mechanical music demonstration beginning at 11:00am.
June’s tour, titled “A Picture Tells a Thousand Words”, will feature historic pictures from the museum’s collection of the Alcazar Hotel. By studying the photographs, visitors can identify what was popular for the hotel’s guests, basic customs and social norms, and compare it to their own life today. Along the way, Ellen Morfit, the museum’s educator and program coordinator, will lead visitors through exhibition spaces of the museum’s permanent collection.
