The GTM Research Reserve invites the public to help plant sea oats on GTM’s dune system on Saturday, May 19th from 7:00am to 11:00am. Sea oats is at the forefront of shoreline protection. Its massive root system is capable of holding soil and sand in place during extreme weather events such as hurricanes and tropical storms. It is very important to natural and artificial dune stabilization.
Participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses and hat, and to dress for the forecasted weather. Meet at the parking lot adjacent to the Exxon station on A1A; overflow parking is at GTM Visitor Center.
