Join us at the First Baptist Church in the historic Armstrong Community on Saturday, June 2, 2018 for a day of free, Gullah Geechee Programs. The Gullah Geechee people are the descendants of Central and West Africans who came from different ethnic and social groups. They were enslaved together on the isolated sea and barrier islands that span what is now designated as the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor – a stretch of the U.S. coastline that extends from Pender County, North Carolina to St. John’s County, Florida and for 30 miles inland.
9:00am – 12:00pm — Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission Meeting. Members of the public are invited to come present to the federal commission on projects and issues of concern relating to our Gullah Geechee people, communities, and land.
