Sign up for the 2018 Summer Art Camp at the St. Augustine Art Association! There are four weekly morning sessions for children in grades 1 thru 6 that starts June 4 and an afternoon session for ages 12 and up the week of June 25. During the camp, they’ll explore painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media techniques with projects inspired by master artists. The sessions are taught by certified professional artist-instructors.
Session 1: THRONES (June 4 – 8, 9am to noon)
This fantasy art kingdom brings the Dark Ages to light with royal selfie portraits, Medieval illuminated manuscripts and fantastic 3D gargoyles.
Session 2: MY COUSIN VINCENT (June 11 – 15, 9am to noon)
Kids take an exciting journey with Vincent Van Gogh into Impressionism and Expressionism re-imagining master works like Starry Nights, sunflowers and city scapes.
Session 3: SOAR! (June 18 – 22, 9am to noon)
From fanciful birds and kites to far-out rockets and UFOs, these artistic expressions of flight will inspire earthbound kids to catch the wind and soar.
Session 4: SUPER HEROES (June 25 – 29, 9am to noon)
Just in time for the 80th anniversary of Superman, kids will tap their artistic superpowers to create graphic cartoons and comic inspired mixed media action heroes.
Session 5: ART INTERSECTIONS (June 25 – 29, 1pm to 4pm)
Aspiring artists ages 12 and up will experiment with edgy art based on 2D & 3D works by modern artists like Calder, Picasso, Klimt, and Matisse.
An Art Camp exhibit showcasing the whimsical works produced in all of the art camp sessions will be on display during the July 6, First Friday Art Walk.
