Cultural Influences in the Spanish Colonial Kitchen at Fort Matanzas

Join park volunteers and staff for on-going demonstrations highlighting the colonial kitchen. Reenactors dressed as Spanish colonial women will describe the life of a typical woman in Saint Augustine and demonstrate how foods from three different cultures combined to create some of the best dishes available in 1740s colonial Spanish Florida. Produce from three very different cultures – Native American, African, and Spanish – will be on display, with conversations about how each of these cultures influenced the Spanish kitchen.
