Artists are invited to participate in an 8-day, community-wide Plein Air Paint Out in the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine. The event celebrates the town’s historic, architectural and coastal beauty through the time-honored tradition of painting “en plein air”, a French term for painting in the open air.
Special events and activities will take place throughout the week beginning with a Quick Draw at the Lightner Museum Gardens on Sunday, April 22, from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm. The public is invited to meet the artists, watch the paintings come to life and buy selected works of art right off the easels.
Roger Bansemer, host of the PBS Series “Painting and Travel” will be giving a free Painting Demonstration at 6:00pm on Thursday, April 26 at the Art Association. Reservations are required by calling (904) 824-2310-!
Locals and visitors to St. Augustine will enjoy seeing artists on location at their easels creating work in real time. Artwork will be for sale at the St. Augustine Art Association Wet Room.
Selected works will be featured in a juried exhibition, “Where Art Meets History” May 4-27, 2018, at the St. Augustine Art Association. Awards total more than $2500, including a $1000 Best in Show.
